Here's the gist: You don't need to do anything.
You'll soon start getting this content in a new form, under a different name and platform.
The week from my desk.
What's changing, what's not, and how you can help shape its future.
When I set up this newsletter in January, I couldn't have imagined what was in store for us all this year.
Covid-19 was something of an explosion in the media space, sending all coverage into pandemic overdrive (and sinking some ships along the way).
It gave me pause to think more deeply about how to move this space forward -- where it could go next, how to make it more sustainable, and how you can get more involved if you choose to.
It’s now almost halfway through the year, and the incredibly positive comments I’ve had from people who get a lot out of these emails are hugely encouraging. It means a lot to see how many of you keep coming back to read what I put together and send your way week after week.
But I’ve also had the nagging feeling that something about the format hasn't been quite right. For one, I started off with an intention to keep the emails fairly short and sweet -- well, let’s just add that to the list of things the Coronavirus made practically impossible. The Mailchimp platform hasn’t been a perfect fit either.
So, the newsletter is taking a different form. You'll soon find it with a new name, a sharper mission, more variety and gradually, some optional extras.
What's changing:
The emails you've been receiving will now come in two separate editions -- one for news and analysis, the other for opportunities.
They'll have more variety and get to your inbox in smaller chunks during the week, rather than a single instalment on the weekend.
The newsletter will be hosted on a different platform that has a clean look, and the benefit of a proper archive! So far, these emails pretty much vanished from view after I hit 'send'. No more -- I'm now in the process of transferring the archives to the new space.
What's not changing is the curated news, analysis and opportunities you’ve been getting so far: they'll stay the same, except for the updated look and format, of course. You don't need to do anything.
Finally, and before you go, an invitation.
There are two things you can do right now to support this transition:
Hit reply and send me a sentence as a testimonial if you've found these emails useful.
Take 3 minutes to give feedback by clicking the link below -- it'll really help shape this into something that can better support your work.
Thank you to everyone who’s been reading and riding the media wave with me so far, and I hope you'll love the new look coming soon!
