I’m sometimes asked if I could stay close to a friend or relative who holds very different political views from mine—say on social issues like refugee or LGBTQ+ rights.
The short answer is yes, I can and I do.
One reason is that I try to prioritise the quality of a personal relationship over the more nebulous nature of beliefs.
