Opportunities to develop your journalism and communication.
I have three opportunities to tell you about.
Let’s get straight to it:
#1—Global Health Film Festival
It’s on now and for the next 10 days! Tune in for a selection of powerful stories and discussion on all aspects of global health including refugee and migrant health, planetary health, gender violence, the politics of aid and post-colonialism.
You can watch the films any time during the festival, and you can join live-stream screening and panel discussion via a registration link in the ticket confirmation email.
Tickets here: A pass to access everything for the duration costs £55, five-ticket and three-ticket bundles cost £19.50 and £12.50 respectively, and individual tickets cost £4.75 per film or series of shorts.
#2—Development reporting in science communication
This is the online course I teach at the University of Cambridge Institute for Continuing Education, and it’s now once again open for registrations!
It starts on the 3rd of January 2022, and runs in 6 weekly sessions—details here. A Certificate of Participation will be available on completion, and the fee is £375.
This course is designed for:
Science journalists interested in global development as a specialisation or potential career path.
Development communicators looking to expand their knowledge of professional journalistic practice.
Professionals involved in science or development projects who need good grounding in the overlap between these fields.
Working at your own pace in weekly sessions, you’ll gain knowledge of fundamental concepts in science journalism and special considerations when reporting on development, develop an understanding of stories where science and development overlap, and get practical tips for reporting from the office or the field.
