Downtime can be good.
When I was starting out as a freelancer, the stress was pretty much constant. Stress when you have a job to deliver—and stress when you don’t.
The latter is the one that catches you off guard. When the project pipeline is slow, a sense of uncertainty sets in. Left unchecked, it can set off some pretty unpleasant feelings of doubt and anxiety.
This tends to be most acute in the early stages of becoming self-employed.
